Familiar scent of spring
tempts us back out of hiding after
a winter spent avoiding frostbite & snowbanks.
Green & warmth makes us regret staying in,
and our lackluster gazes
are brightened sprightfully by sunshine,
that is—if we do go outside.
Difficult to move, still cold
with poor circulation, viscous blood &
stagnant limbs, sluggish & clumsy
in places you forgot you had them.
We’re quickly breathless when prancing
through spring grasses,
lost our endurance from lying, slothlike.
Tired, unmotivated, too comfortable
but guilty for our lethargic wasting
of precious…transitory…arrogant…
life.
In the vast expanse of my mind
is an endless forest, mountains,
ocean, galaxies, haphazardly in
infinite time & adventure.
And yes: earthquakes, eruptions,
miracles & magic.
Slothlike..that made me laugh...this winter was like a prison..you have post prison fatigue .come along muffin, let us channel our energies into an adventure on the coast of South America saving starfishes from their peril of being grounded on the beach by throwing them back in the ocean... we need a vacation for our hands and feet.
